Family Law, Education Law
I qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and joined Williscroft in 2006.
I have a particular interest in cases involving domestic abuse and have developed expert knowledge in how to handle the emotionally difficult issues that arise in these situations. Such cases often involve making emergency applications at extremely short notice, but I am also concerned to ensure that the long term issues affecting clients in this type of position are also resolved. I am chairperson of the management committee at an organisation in Leeds which provides support for victims of domestic abuse.
I also have considerable experience in dealing with cases involving financial issues both at the end of a marriage or at the end of a period of cohabitation. Theses cases often also raise issues surrounding arrangements for the children. I have represented clients at Court in proceedings relating to finances and children.
I am a member of Resolution which is an organisation that believes in a constructive approach to disputes encouraging solutions that meet the needs of the whole family. I approach all my cases on the basis of implementing these principles to ensure that my clients receive the best possible advice and support.
I have been appointed the firm's Supervisor in Education Law. I have a particular interest in cases involving admission appeals and those involving children with Special Education Needs. I have represented parents throughout the tribunal process and have instigated Judicial Review proceedings against a number of bodies to challenge their decisions on education issues.
