Child Care, Housing Law
Most of my experience is in the field of child care law representing either parents or children in care proceedings. Before qualifying as a solicitor in 1994 I worked for 6 years in a related profession. I have experience in cases where there are allegations of neglect, non-accidental injury and sexual abuse. I would say that this area of law is the one in which I have the most expertise. It is my preferred area of work and I am committed to securing the best outcome for those that I represent.
When children are made parties to Children Act proceedings I represent them with the assistance of a Children's Guardian.
In the housing law field, although I have been a sole specialist at the firm for some time now, I am now assisted by my colleague Rachel Denton. I work almost exclusively for tenants in exercising their legal rights against landlords in connection with repairs to their home, possession proceedings, preventing unlawful evictions etc. I have advised about and brought proceedings in connection with homelessness, including appeal and judicial review proceedings.
