Court hearings - COVID-19

26th March 2020

How the court is managing court hearings during the COVID-19 emergency

We are able to confirm that court hearings are continuing to take placed however they are currently mainly by telephone with an intention to move it to SKYPE. The courts are encouraging the parties to try reach agreements in relation to the outstanding issues in advance of the hearing to narrow the issues that the court have to deal with.

However, we have found that at present, most hearings that are due to last in excess of one day are being adjourned and we are unsure what the delay will be for the longer hearings.

Emergency applications such as applications for Non Molestation Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders continue to be dealt with quickly although the application is made electronically and the hearing by phone.

Please contact our office for further details of how this may affect your case.
